At MummyMo Haircare, we go beyond hair; we nurture the bond between mother and child, creating cherished moments and lasting memories. We’re here to change your story and inspire a new era of natural hair care.

My Story

My name is Olusola David-Elegbede, though most mothers simply know me as MummyMo.

Contrary to what you might think, I wasn’t born knowing how to care for children’s natural hair. Long before I became a Certified Hair Practitioner or founded MummyMo Haircare, I was simply a mother trying to do her best, just like you.

I’m a girl mum, and like every parent, I wanted nothing more than to see my daughters’ hair healthy and flourishing. It’s a desire that’s as old as motherhood itself. We are carers. We are nurturers. We want to know that we’re doing right by our children.

My journey took an unexpected turn one Sunday morning.

My first daughter was born with very fine hair and noticeable bald patches. I loved her exactly as she was and cared for her the best way I knew how. Then, on a church shuttle, another mother looked at my baby’s hair and made a remark that cut far deeper than she probably realised.

I left that bus wondering whether I had already failed my daughter.

Was I doing something wrong? Was her hair “bad”? Had I somehow fallen short as a mother?

Instead of allowing those questions to define me, I chose to let them drive me. I decided to find answers.

What began as a personal search for knowledge became months of learning, researching, experimenting and understanding afro-textured hair. Slowly, my daughter’s hair began to change. It didn’t simply grow, it flourished. Ironically, the same people who once questioned her hair became the very ones admiring it.

Why MummyMo?

One of the questions I’m asked most often is, “What makes MummyMo Haircare different?”

The answer is simple.

Because I am you.

Every mother arrives here hoping for the same thing, to care well for her child’s hair.

Some are navigating their baby’s first strands of hair. Others are trying to recover from breakage, endless dryness or years of frustrating washdays. Many quietly carry the weight of conflicting advice and the fear that they might be getting it wrong.

I’ve carried those same questions.

That’s why MummyMo Haircare was never built simply to teach haircare.

It was built to walk alongside mothers.

I know what it’s like to search for answers late into the night. To wonder whether another product will finally solve the problem. To hear unsolicited comments about your child’s hair and question whether you’re doing enough.

So I decided to do something about it.

I immersed myself in the science of afro-textured hair, pursued professional training, tested techniques, challenged myths and transformed years of learning into practical education that mothers can trust.

Today, I do the researching so you don’t have to.

I simplify the science.

I filter the noise.

I replace overwhelm with understanding.

And most importantly, I help mothers move from uncertainty to confidence.

Because when you truly understand your child’s hair, you stop caring what everyone else thinks.

You no longer feel the need to defend your choices.

You simply smile, continue nurturing your child’s hair with confidence, and know in your heart,

“I know what I’m doing.”

My promise to every mother who finds MummyMo Haircare is simple: you don’t have to figure this out alone. I’ve walked this road before you, and I’ll walk it with you until you can confidently say, “I know what I’m doing”.
